About

Established in April 2021 by Christopher Joyce, Púca is a Dublin-based literary journal interested in publishing your creative output. We were originally focused solely on Irish writing, however, from issue two onwards we are delighted to announce we will be accepting submissions from writers from all walks of life.

Our main interest is linked to our name. The púca is a shapeshifter found flitting throughout Irish and Celtic mythology. Able to change its shape at will the púca resists any strict definitions of selfhood. Throughout mythology its intent is never clear, refusing to be categorised as either friend or foe, the only constant is its fluid nature. Similarly, we want to produce a journal which changes vision and viewpoint with each issue.

We want to publish your work, whatever form it takes and create a community of writing which reflects multiple versions of the self. Each issue will have a different theme and submissions will be open to any writer wherever they find themselves.

We publish short stories, flash fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry all founded upon selfhood and experience. We publish two issues a year and are always delighted to answer any questions.

Submission guidelines can be found under the submissions tab.
